The Housing Authority of the City of
Kokomo will proactively and efficiently
work for the betterment of our community
by providing clean, safe, affordable
housing. But it doesn't end
there... We also provide training and
opportunities for personal growth to
eligible individuals and families,
empowering them the ability to
successfully move away from government
assistance to become financially
self-sufficient and capable of providing
for their household.
Our various services are listed below:
|
 |
|
|
|
In addition to public housing, we
also administer the Housing Choice
Voucher program which subsidizes rent
payments to private landlords on behalf
of eligible clients, allowing very
low-income families to choose and lease
or purchase safe, decent, and affordable
privately-owned rental housing.
Below
is a list of various types of vouchers:
- Homeownership Vouchers
- Tenant Based Vouchers
- Vouchers for People with Disabilities
|
 |
We also offer a Home
Ownership program to participants in the
Housing Choice Voucher program.
This program empowers working and low
income persons and families to move off
of government assistance and into the
economic mainstream through home
ownership.

This program is designed
to assist individuals and families towards achieving
self sufficiency. FSS encourages employment, higher
education, independence, and provides an escrow account
to assist participants in achieving their goals.
The Family Self Sufficiency program offers a family the
opportunity to build escrow funds as their income level
increases, providing the basis for a down payment on a
home, educational expenses, or various uses.
FSS
is open to residents on the Voucher program
as well as residents of public housing.

responsible for the general upkeep and
repair of all units of public housing.
Anytime there is a problem at one of the
units, from a leaky faucet to a major
repair, a resident need only to call the
Maintenance Department to complete a
work order and a maintenance person will
respond.
Emergency calls are
attended to first, with non-emergency
calls responded to in the order of
call-in, always in a timely manner.
The Maintenance Department is committed
to excellence and professionalism.
They take pride in their work and the
